Thousands of official documents relating to the 1989 Hillsborough football disaster in England, on Wednesday (12/09/2012), opened to the public. The tragedy that killed 96 Liverpool fans reveal some pretty surprising facts. One of them, the police made a mistake control that contributed to the tragedy.
The tragedy occurred on 15 April 1989, in the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. One of the Hillsborough stadium tribune called Leppings Lane collapsed. The stadium is owned club Sheffield Wednesday in Yorkshire, northern England.
Several family members of the victims hoped the documents would shed light on what really happened. The documents obtained from archives belong to 80 organizations, including the British Government, South Yorkshire Police, Sheffield City Council, South Yorkshire coroner and fire department and hospital.
